The Toronto Blue Jays activated outfielder Teoscar Hernandez from the COVID-19 injured list Friday before their game against the Atlanta Braves and designated right-hander Tanner Roark for assignment.
Hernandez tested positive for the coronavirus on April 13 and was cleared to return to team facilities on April 23. The 28-year-old spent the past week at Toronto’s alternate training site as he worked his way back into playing shape.
The 2020 Silver Slugger was off to a slow start at the plate prior to his absence, slashing just .207/.207/.310 with one home run in seven games.
In a corresponding roster move, outfielder Jonathan Davis was assigned to the team’s alternate site.
In three appearances this season, the 34-year-old Roark has a 6.43 ERA and 1.286 WHIP over seven innings.
First pitch between the Blue Jays and Braves is scheduled for 7:37 p.m. ET on Sportsnet.
