Mets sign minors pitcher Sam McWilliams to one-year deal

The New York Mets have signed right-handed pitcher Sam McWilliams to a one-year contract.

McWilliams, 25, has a 30-35 record with a 3.85 ERA in 109 games (94 starts) during his six-year Minor League career. He was part of the Tampa Bay Rays’ 60-player pool in 2020.

In 2017, McWilliams was named a Mid-Season All-Star, a Post-Season All-Star, and won a Pitcher of the Week award with the Kane County Cougars in the Midwest League. He was named a Southern League Mid-Season All-Star with the Montgomery Biscuits in 2019.
