Ottawa Senators new goaltender Matt Murray signed a four-year, $25 million contract, the team announced Friday.
Murray’s contract has an average annual value of $6.25 million. He will receive $4 million in 2020-21, $6 million the following season, $7 million in 2022-23 and $8 million in the last year of the deal.
The Senators acquired Murray from the Pittsburgh Penguins on Wednesday in exchange for forward prospect Jonathan Gruden and a second-round pick.
Murray, 26, helped the Penguins win the Stanley Cup in 2016 and 2017.
Murray compiled a 117-53-19 record with 11 shutouts, a 2.67 goals-against average and .914 save percentage in five seasons with Pittsburgh.
This past season, Murray had a 20-11-5 record with one shutout, a 2.87 goals-against average and a .899 save percentage in 38 starts for the Penguins.
