NASCAR officials have confirmed that both Chicagoland and Kentucky will not be part of the 2021 schedule when it is released tomorrow, according to The Athletic.
“NASCAR’s schedule is expected to address fan complaints of too many races being held on 1.5-mile to 2-mile tracks,” the site said.
Additionally, the 2021 spring Cup race at Bristol Motor Speedway will likely be run with a dirt surface thanks in part to pressure from FOX Sports, according to the Bristol Herald-Courier.
Among other changes already announced, Circuit of the Americas will host a Cup race as Texas Motor Speedway will lose a date. The Fort Worth, Texas track will host the All-Star Race.
Also already announced, Nashville Superspeedway will replace one of the two Dover points races.
