NFL notebook: 49ers TE Kittle likely won’t play vs. Jets

San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan said tight end George Kittle (knee sprain) likely won’t practice this week but he fully expects him to play Sunday vs. the Jets.

The Niners are placing cornerback Richard Sherman (leg) on IR. Sherman exited Sunday’s game near the end of the fourth quarter, and will be out for at least the next 3 weeks.

For the Jets, meanwhile, head coach Adam Gase confirmed Wednesday that Frank Gore will start Sunday at running back his former team while Le’Veon Bell is out with a hamstring injury.

Robinson, Nagy address contract talks

Chicago Bears wise reciever Allen Robinson spoke to the media on Wednesday and said he had a “very good and spirited” talk with head coach Matt Nagy.

Robison said he is moving forward and doesn’t want the contract extension talks to be a distraction. Nagy told reporters there is “zero concern” and the team wants Robinson here.
