Plans are in the works to convert Auto Club Speedway, a 2-mile track in the Inland Empire area of Southern California, into a half-mile short track, according to The Athletic.

NASCAR has submitted a proposal to San Bernardino County that outlines the project to change Auto Club, according to the report.

The target to begin construction is currently set for after the spring 2021 race, and to have it ready for the 2022 race. There are currently no plans to skip Auto Club on the schedule.
