CHICAGO — Prior to tonight’s game vs. Milwaukee, the Chicago White Sox placed infielder Nick Madrigal on the 10-day injured list (retroactive to August 5) with a separated left shoulder and optioned outfielder Nicky Delmonico to the Schaumburg training facility.
Madrigal, 23, suffered the injury on Tuesday at Milwaukee while sliding into third base. He is batting .294 (5-17) with two runs scored and one RBI over five games this season. Madrigal made his major-league debut on July 31 at Kansas City and collected his first four hits on August 2 at the Royals.
Delmonico, 28, has played in six games this season, going 3-15 (.200) with three RBI.
Following the moves, the White Sox roster is at the MLB-mandated 28 players. The taxi squad increases to a maximum of five players.
