Louisville temporarily suspended four fall sports programs Wednesday after 29 student-athletes tested positive for COVID-19, an outbreak traced to an off-campus party.
All team activities for men’s and women’s soccer, women’s field hockey and women’s volleyball are paused.
“The primary source of the positive tests … was traced primarily to an off-campus party,” the university said in a statement. “Though all student-athletes have been well-educated about the dangers of social gatherings to themselves and to others, UofL leaders have again reinforced the necessity to adhere to state, local, and Centers for Disease Control (CDC) medical guidelines and procedures for the health and safety of all.”
Team members who have not tested positive or been identified through contact tracing may be allowed to resume campus workouts on Monday, pending test results.
