Isaiah “Swerve” Scott and Tony Nese put aside their differences to team up against common enemies, but Legado del Fantasma continued to dominate, as Joaquin Wilde and Raul Mendoza scored a monumental victory.
Joaquin Wilde & Raul Mendoza def. Isaiah “Swerve” Scott & Tony Nese
Say what you will about NXT Cruiserweight Champion Santos Escobar, but “The Leader of Leaders” is getting the absolute best out of Raul Mendoza & Joaquin Wilde. The tandem picked up what was arguably the biggest win of their careers against Isaiah “Swerve” Scott and Tony Nese.
After a feeling out process in the early goings, Wilde disrespected Scott with a menacing slap across the face, seemingly igniting a fire in “Swerve,” who nearly took Wilde’s head off with a malicious kick.
At a critical juncture, Nese dropped Wilde with a beautiful top-rope hurricanrana and made the tag to “Swerve,” who hit the ring like a ball of fire and tattooed Wilde with a kick to the head and a snap German suplex.
A four-man slugfest in the center of the ring resulted in Nese and Swerve connecting with stereo kicks that sent Wilde & Mendoza careening out of the ring, and Nese and Scott followed up by launching themselves over the top rope to wipe out both of their opponents.
With Nese and Scott seemingly closing in on the victory, The Premier Athlete was distracted by Escobar, who had casually walked up the ring steps to the apron. Wilde took advantage by shoving Scott off the top rope into the ringside plexiglass, and a blind tag from Mendoza to his partner allowed Wilde to drop Nese with a facebuster. Seconds later, Wilde & Mendoza connected with a wicked double-team maneuver to put down Nese for three.
