The NHL would like to pass off the plans for Phases 3 and 4 of their “Return to Play” plan to the NHLPA for a vote no later than the end of June, NHL Rumors Daily reported on Wednesday.
NRD noted that handing the plans to the NHLPA that soon would allow time for any feedback to be given to the league, and also would allow a brief premptive period to ready up for camp.
As for information on the hub cities to host the playoffs this season, NRD reported that while the NHL wants a Canadian hub city to be the host, that decision is out of the NHL’s hands for now. The decision is solely up to the local government and the 14-day mandatory quarantine in those respective cities.
The NHL announced on May 26 that the hub cities being considered were Chicago (IL), Columbus (OH), Dallas (TX), Edmonton (AB), Las Vegas (NV), Los Angeles (CA), Minneapolis/St. Paul (MN), Pittsburgh (PA), Toronto (ON), and Vancouver (BC).
