WWE notes: Upcoming PPV status; Backlash main event announced

wweWWE’s current plan as for live shows remains to return to hosting live audiences when permitted, according to WrestleVotes.

The status of SummerSlam, which is set for August 23 in Boston, is up in the air after recent strict gathering laws placed into effect by the city that last until Labor Day, September 7. The status of WWE’s pay-per-views after SummerSlam are also in a state of uncertainty.

WWE has been doing live tapings from their Performance Center duing the entirety of the COVID-19 pandemic. All Elite Wrestling has done its live tapings in Jacksonville. Both companies have done the tapings without live audiences.

Backlash main event announced

WWE social media accounts announced Tuesday that Drew McIntyre will defend his WWE Championship against Bobby Lashley in the main event of the company’s upcoming Backlash pay-per-view on June 14.
