Four-star quarterback Aaron McLaughlin announced his commitment to NC State on Thursday, giving the Wolfpack their top recruit thus far in the 2021 class.
“I have found a home, all glory to God. Committed to NC State,” McLaughlin wrote on Twitter.
According to 247Sports’ composite rankings, McLaughlin is the 13th-ranked pro-style quarterback in the country. A product of Denmark High School in Alpharetta, Ga., he’s ranked as the 22nd overall prospect in the state.
ESPN has McLaughlin rated higher, pegging him as the 10th-rated pocket-passing quarterback, the fifth-best prospect out of Georgia and the 53rd-best prospect in the country.
The 6-foot-5, 223-pounder had previously committed to Auburn and also considered Arizona, Baylor, Florida State and Miami, among many offers.
McLaughlin is scheduled to compete in the Elite 11 finals this June. He threw for 2,018 yards, 17 touchdowns and seven interceptions while also rushing for nine scores in 2019.
