A top aide for Bronx Councilman Rafael Salamanca Jr. says he, his wife and two children have tested positive for coronavirus but are doing well.
“Friends and Family: I’m sure we can all agree that the last week and a half have been some challenging days,” Salamanca’s chief of staff John Zaccaro Jr. wrote on Twitter Saturday.
“I wanted to inform you that I, along with my wife Daniella and children Judah and Ethan have tested positive for Coronavirus. I am feeling pretty good and all is well with the kids and my wife.”
He said he was sharing the information because he’s been “all over the place” so it’s unclear how many people he’s come in contact with. He also called on New Yorkers to “STAY HOME and practice social distancing to the greatest extent possible.”
“Tougher days are ahead but this too shall pass and we WILL get through this together,” he wrote.
A message left with Salamanca was not immediately returned.
Two City Council members — Ritchie Torres (D-Bronx) and Inez Barron (D-Brooklyn) have said they tested positive for coronavirus.
The Council’s City Hall and 250 Broadway offices have been shut since last Monday.
