Godwin, Warner, Sims named NFL Players of Week 12

nfc-potwWide receiver Chris Godwin of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, linebacker Fred Warner of the San Francisco 49ers and kick returner Steven Sims of the Washington Redskins are the NFC Offensive, Defensive and Special Teams Players of the Week for games played in Week 12 (November 21, 24-25).

Godwin set a career high with 184 receiving yards and scoring two touchdowns in Tampa Bay’s 35-22 win over the Falcons in Atlanta. He turned in five plays longer than 20 yards, and six of his seven catches resulted in first downs. His 33-yard catch near the end of the third quarter was the longest play on a 61-yard field goal drive that gave Tampa Bay a 28-13 lead.

Warner registered 11 solo tackles, one of which went for a loss, a sack, two hurries, nine total stops and a forced fumble that set the tone early in San Francisco’s 37-8 victory over the Green Bay Packers. His nine stops were the most of any defensive player in the NFL in Week 12.

In Washington’s 19-16 victory over the Lions, Sims scored his team’s only touchdown as he turned in a 91-yard kick return for a touchdown. The rookie had two returns on the day with the other going for 33 yards.
