Dale Earnhardt Jr., his wife Amy and their daughter Isla are okay after being on-board a plane that crashed near the Elizabethton Airport Thursday afternoon, according to the city’s Fire Chief, Barry Carrier.
Everyone made it off the aircraft safely. Dale and Amy were taken to a hospital for evaluation, but escaped any dangerous injuries.
The private plane crashed near a runway at Elizabethton Municipal Airport before bursting into flames.
According to the Carter County Sheriff’s Office, five people were on the plane — the three Earnhardts, the pilot, and another person, along with the family dog. The sheriff says there were cuts and abrasions, but no serious injuries.
