SAN JOSE, CA – The San Jose Sharks announced Wednesday that defenseman Erik Karlsson underwent successful surgery after sustaining a groin injury in the 2018-19 season.

On Friday, May 31, San Jose Sharks defenseman Erik Karlsson underwent successful surgery to address a groin injury suffered during the 2018-19 season.
Erik has begun rehabilitation and is expected to recover fully this offseason and be ready for the 2019-20 NHL season.
In 2018-19, Karlsson tied for 9th among NHL defensemen in assists (42) and 3rd on on the team. He was third in Sharks team rankings in takeaways (59). Since entering the NHL in 2009-10, Karlsson leads all blueliners in assists (434) and points (563).
