CONCORD, N.H. (AP) — Democratic U.S. Sen. Maggie Hassan is set to attend a hearing on the construction of fencing along the country’s southern border.
Hassan is a member of the Senate’s homeland security committee, which is hosting the Wednesday hearing. The hearing comes after Republican President Donald Trump signed an executive order to jumpstart construction of a wall along the entire U.S.-Mexico border.
A committee press release says the hearing will provide the administration and Department of Homeland Security with “lessons learned from previous fence deployment efforts.” Hundreds of miles of fencing is already been built along parts of the border.
Former U.S. Customers and Border Protection officials plan to testify.
